JOB TITLE – General Labourer
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a General Labourer/production/sanitation role in the Burnbrae Grading Station, you will be part of a team responsible for inspecting and packaging eggs, replenishing the grading line with materials, palletizing finished products, and ensuring the work area and equipment are clean and sanitized. The ideal candidate is a team player with high attention to detail who thrives in a fast-paced and physically demanding role.
DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Package salable eggs on racks, pallets or in boxes based on daily production demands/orders.
- Ensure proper cartons are used, labelling is accurate, and cartons are closed correctly.
- Ensure code dates are legible, correct and facing in the right direction when packed.
- Pull damaged or dirty eggs from cartons or flats and replace them with clean, undamaged, and properly sized eggs.
- Place dirty eggs in the proper areas to be rewashed and maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and productive work area
- Inspect eggs for any defects and remove and sort defective eggs appropriately.
- Monitoring and operating equipment used to package eggs into cartons, ensuring that eggs are packaged correctly and that the packaging is secure and clearly labeled.
- Clean egg spillage on the floor, or machines and properly dispose of any waste and garbage as needed.
- Clean and sanitize machinery using appropriate chemicals in accordance with established SOPs
- Carry out daily sanitation tasks in work areas, machinery and equipment to keep food production facilities clean.
- Clean product contact surfaces to meet BRC and SQF food safety standards, using high-pressure water hoses, squeegees and approved cleaning products.
- Clean floors, machines and common areas following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and hygiene guidelines.
- Contribute to maintaining a GMP-compliant environment by adhering to all safety, health and environmental protocols.
- Manage the inventory of sanitation and cleaning supplies and inform supervisors when replenishment is necessary.
- Palletize and depalletize finished products
- Unwrap and depalletize supplies and refill packaging materials, as required
- Use appropriate tools and/or equipment to deliver finished pallets to the warehouse/shipping area.
- Assist the Machine Operators in performing their duties
- Maintain a positive work environment through cooperating with co-workers and management by the way you act and communicate.
- Communicate regularly with machine operators, co-workers, management, and quality assurance personnel to ensure standards of egg quality are upheld and a quality product is produced by our facility.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), maintain sanitary conditions, and report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Follow HACCP practices and actively promote our safety culture by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents, and observations of unsafe acts or conditions.
- Other Duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Successfully complete forklift/cart safety training, training will be provided
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work within a team setting as well as independently
- The flexibility to work various shifts, including days, afternoons, nights and weekends
- Excellent work ethic
- Proven commitment to safety and quality
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well as a member of a team
- Ability to safely lift 30-50 lbs. repeatedly throughout shift while bending and twisting in variety movements
WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least one (1) year of experience in the food industry and/or manufacturing environment

Move through the wage range at 13 weeks, 26 weeks, 39 weeks and 52 weeks
