Location: Etobicoke, ON M9W 4V8

Salary: $35.00 hourly / 40 hours per Week

Number of vacancies: 2

Overtime: 1.5 times of gross pay after completion of 44 hours

Vacation Pay: 4% on every pay period

Job Type: Permanent employment

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-trip inspections to assess vehicle safety, checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement to ensure compliance with safety standards before departure.
  • Safely operate various types of trucks, including straight and articulated vehicles, to transport goods across Ontario while adhering to all road regulations.
  • Load and unload goods efficiently, following proper procedures to prevent damage and ensure safe handling of cargo, including hazardous materials when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of hours driven, distances traveled, fuel consumption, and cargo details, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members, relaying information regarding route changes, delivery statuses, and any incidents encountered during transport.
  • Collaborate with warehouse personnel and other stakeholders to coordinate timely loading and unloading processes, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Manage financial transactions related to shipments, accurately processing payments and receipts while maintaining proper documentation for accountability and record-keeping.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following protocols for transporting dangerous goods when applicable.
  • Engage in continuous learning regarding industry regulations, safety practices, and best driving techniques to enhance skills and maintain compliance with evolving standards.
  • Navigate various road conditions and routes across Ontario, utilizing maps and GPS technology to ensure timely and efficient deliveries to designated locations.
  • Monitor weather conditions and traffic patterns, adjusting routes as needed to avoid delays and ensure safe transportation of goods under varying circumstances.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A Secondary school graduation certificate is the minimum educational requirement for this job. 
  • This position does not require any prior experience.
  • Clean driving record with no serious violations, demonstrating a commitment to safety and responsible driving practices over an extended period.
  • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, identifying and addressing maintenance or safety issues effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with dispatch, clients, and other team members, ensuring clear information exchange during transportation.
  • Customer service orientation, providing professionalism and courtesy during interactions with clients and stakeholders throughout the transportation process.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of loading and unloading cargo, performing manual labor, and driving long distances.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, adhering to schedules while ensuring safe driving practices and compliance with legal regulations.
