JOB TITLE – Process control and machine operators, food and beverage processing

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Machine Operator with Island Eggs, you will have various responsibilities, including operating and maintaining production machinery, performing minor repairs, and ensuring inventory is monitored and recorded accurately. The MO is expected to maintain quality standards by familiarizing themselves with product specifications, ensuring accurate code dates on packaging, and assisting with related tasks such as machine loading, tray washing, and other production duties as needed. The ideal candidate is a team player with a high attention to detail who thrives in a fast-paced and physically demanding role.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of computers and ability to learn our warehouse management system.
  • Reports directly to the Production Supervisor or alternate.
  • Run packaging into machine for production.
  • Minor repairs to the machine.
  • Observe product inventory prior to production and maintains a running inventory of each product.
  • Obtaining maximum production.
  • Familiarizing themselves with each producer’s egg size and quality.
  • Correct and ensure legibility of code dates on all cartons.
  • Assist with machine loader, tray washer/spinner, Denester Helper duties when necessary.
  • Reports mechanical problems to Maintenance/Supervisor immediately.
  • Understand the basic functions of the computer.
  • Completes all required paperwork.
  • Maintains a clean work area free of garbage and broken eggs.
  • Assumes the responsibilities directed by the company's Health and Safety and Food Safety programs.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn our warehouse management system.
  • Report mechanical issues promptly to maintenance or the supervisor.
  • Utilizing the grading computer for information entry and understanding its basic functions.
  • Completing all required documentation accurately.
  • Supporting team cohesion and morale by working professionally with colleagues and assisting in training new staff.
  • Adhering to company policies and taking on other duties as assigned to meet production goals.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), maintain sanitary conditions, and report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
  • Follow HACCP practices and actively promote our safety culture by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents, and unsafe acts or conditions observations.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous factory work or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work within a team setting as well as independently
  • The flexibility to work various shifts, including days, afternoons, and weekends
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Proven commitment to safety and quality
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well as a member of a team
  • Ability to safely lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly throughout shift while bending and twisting in variety movements.

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the food industry and/or manufacturing environment is an asset.

From $21.67 to $23.01 per hour
