Job description:
Family in Thornhill, ON, L3T4E1 is looking for a Home Support Worker for a 84-year-old male.
The employee is required to be flexible to cover shifts, some weekends. Overtime may be required.
Hours will vary from day, night and evenings.
Salary: $20 per hour.
Hours:full-time, 30 hours per week.
Work Site Environment: Non-smoking, Scent free.
Work Location:Thornhill, ON L3T4E1; Must work in employer's/client's home.
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.):First Aid Certificate; CPR Certificate would be an asset.
Job Duties:
- Assist the senior with bathing, grooming, dressing, and using the toilet.
- Support the senior with mobility and physical exercises.
- Carry out light housekeeping tasks like cleaning, doing laundry, and making beds.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals, and help the senior with eating if needed.
- Offer companionship and engage in conversation to reduce loneliness and support mental well-being.
- Accompany the senior to appointments and social events to promote community involvement.
- Observe the senior's mental health and report any major changes to family members and healthcare providers.
- Ensure a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment for the senior.
Requirements:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Prefer to have previous experience in caregiving and/or previous full-time training in the field.
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
- Must be patient, elderly-friendly with good interpersonal skills.
