Job Description

HARLEEN SANDHU CO. DESIGN LTD. strives to provide clients with creative and strategic interior design solutions. Our design process begins by thoroughly assessing and interpreting client and user needs and thereby translating them into effective and cutting-edge design solutions. We are looking for a senior interior designer/project manager.

Job Duties

  • Manage and carry out multiple projects of varying stages of completion from concept to construction within schedule and budget
  • Conceptualize and produce aesthetic, functional and safe designs for interior spaces in residential, and commercial buildings while paying close attention in the area of interior architecture, construction materials and building codes
  • Preparing interior design proposals, contract documents, including floor plans, finishes plans, reflected ceiling plans, power and communication plans, interior elevations, millwork sections and details, schedules, general notes and information, all which must comply with Building Codes
  • Precisely collaborate and consult with clients to determine needs, preferences, safety requirements and purpose of space
  • Establish trusting relationships with clients through successful management of expectations and requests, consistent communication, and captivating deliverables
  • Translate design sketches, renderings, and preliminary drawings into full working drawings including architectural and millwork details
  • Develop detailed plans and 3-D models showing arrangement of walls, dividers, displays, lighting and other fixtures using computer-assisted design (CAD) software and graphics software
  • Develop plans, elevations, cross sections and detailed drawings, and advise on selection of colours, finishes and materials, floor and wall coverings, window treatments, interior and exterior lighting, furniture and other items, taking into account ergonomic and occupational health standards
  • Take and record measurements for projects
  • Precisely estimate costs and materials required
  • Prepare plans and specifications for the final interior designs in accordance with current practices and codes
  • Communicate with site work crews and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with building codes regulations
  • Conduct site visits to ensure quality and adherence to design plans

Employment requirements

  • At least a two-year College diploma in interior design or related field is required.
  • Three years minimum demonstrated experience in interior design and project management, with a preference for experience in high-end residential or commercial settings.; Preference for those who have residential design experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Auto CAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and Revit.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • References will be required.
  • BC Class 7 or 5 drivers license is required.
  • Excellent written and oral proficiency in English.

We follow BC Employment Standards. 4% vacation pay of the gross salary will be paid each pay period. Subscription for the software used is provided.
