Scope of work
As a Strategic Sourcing Analyst at Interspan Canada Inc., you will play a pivotal role in the sourcing, procurement, and supply chain process. You will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services, ensuring that we maintain a competitive edge in the market while meeting our customer’s demands.
Primary responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with potential suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers in focus geographical areas- South Asia, Turkey and Europe.
- Invite tenders, consult with suppliers, and review quotations.
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms and conditions, and award supplier contracts.
- Collaborate with various departments to determine procurement needs and requirements.
- Create and manage purchase orders, Establish logistics delivery schedules, and monitor progress with suppliers and logistics service providers.
- Monitor inventory levels, track deliveries, and address any discrepancies or delays in shipments.
- Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising product quality or delivery times.
- Provide necessary research and input into financial sourcing aspects of contracts and calls for tender when information is not readily available.
- Conduct regular cost-benefit analyses to evaluate supplier and product performance.
- Develop and maintain quality control procedures in the procurement process.
- Monitor adherence to ethical and sustainability standards in sourcing practices.
- Analyze and identify high-impact cost reduction opportunities.
- Prepare reports, analyze data, and provide insights to management for informed decision-making.
- Evaluate potential risks by analyzing various factors in the supply market. Prepare forecasts, scenarios, and detailed reports with recommendations based on the assessments.
- Leverage the organization’s buying power to optimize costs, access new suppliers, reduce lead time, and guarantee the supply of merchandise.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with current and potential buyers and suppliers associated with the organization.
- Ensure that all procured goods and services meet quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Continuously assess vendor performance and work on supplier development programs to enhance supplier capabilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum post-secondary diploma in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
- 6+ years of work experience in sourcing apparel, and leather products from South East Asian countries. Apparel merchandising and quality control experience to be preferred.
- Able to speak major South Asian languages, particularly Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu.
- Have a minimum understanding of local culture and ways to successfully negotiate and manage business deals with companies in the South Asian region and Turkey.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in English language
- Familiarity with regulation requirements and quality standards.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
