Job Summary:
As the General Manager of Donnellan’s Irish Pub, a vibrant and authentic Irish pub located in the heart of Vancouver’s bustling entertainment district, you will oversee all aspects of the pub’s operations. Known for its lively atmosphere, traditional Irish cuisine, and live music, Donnellan’s offers a warm and welcoming environment that attracts both locals and visitors alike. This role requires a dynamic and experienced leader with a passion for hospitality, a deep appreciation for Irish culture, and the ability to maintain a high standard of service while fostering a fun and engaging pub experience.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance revenue generation and profitability while staying true to Donnellan’s Irish Pub’s traditional Irish theme and welcoming atmosphere.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the pub, including both The Main Bar and The Balcony, ensuring smooth and efficient service for all patrons while preserving the distinctive atmosphere and character of the establishment.
Develop and refine operational procedures that reflect the essence of an authentic Irish bar, ensuring every aspect, from the menu to the decor, aligns with the pub's heritage and culture.
Lead and inspire a team of staff, cultivating a team-oriented, collaborative environment while emphasizing the importance of preserving the traditional Irish pub experience.
Organize and manage special events, live music performances, and private functions, including liaising with clients to arrange menu options, event specifics, and logistical needs. This includes managing events in The Balcony and The Main Bar, ensuring successful and memorable gatherings.
Uphold high standards of health and safety, ensuring the pub adheres to both local regulations and best practices specific to a busy bar and restaurant setting.
Instill a guest-first approach among the team, focusing on creating exceptional and memorable experiences for every patron, whether they are regulars or first-time visitors.
Regularly evaluate staff performance, provide constructive feedback, offer opportunities for professional development, and ensure staff are trained in the latest hospitality trends to maintain high service standards.
Manage staff scheduling to ensure the pub operates efficiently, with optimal staffing levels during peak hours, including evenings and weekends, to deliver excellent service.
Manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring the steady supply of high-quality ingredients, beverages, and other pub essentials that align with the Irish theme and the pub’s standards.
Incorporate eco-conscious practices into daily operations, such as waste management and sourcing locally where possible, while maintaining the pub’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
Manage all financial aspects of the pub, including overseeing cash handling, invoicing, and tip pool reconciliation, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in financial transactions.
Wage/Salary: $36.00/hour
Benefits: Extended Health Benefits after 90 days, 6% Vacation Pay, Share of Gratuities Received
Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week

Skills Requirements
Education: No Minimum Education Requirement
Work Experience: Must have at least 3 years of general management experience in a restaurant and bar setting.
Skills/Licensing:
Demonstrated and verifiable work experience leading and mentoring a team in a hospitality setting. Experience in staff training, performance evaluation, and team development is required.
Demonstrated competence in managing financial operations, including budgeting, invoicing, cash handling, and financial reporting.
Demonstrated and verifiable work experience in negotiating with and managing suppliers.
Demonstrated competence with restaurant management software, financial reporting tools, and basic computer applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to the food and beverage industry.
Demonstrated and verifiable work experience in planning and executing events within a restaurant or bar setting.
