Meat & Bread constructs quick and scrumptious sandwiches with the finest components, strong culinary skills, and a lot of heart. Every site presents our trademark carved-to-order porchetta sandwich, meatball sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich, and a weekly special sandwich, which may be coupled with soup, salad, chip, or pickle. We are presently seeking to enlist a Sous-Chef for our Robson location, who will assemble and cook appetizing meals for our adored customers.

Work Location: 625 Robson St, Vancouver, BC V6B 5J3

Position Title: Sous-Chef

Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Estimated Starting Date: As Soon As Possible

Position available: 1

Wage: $34.62 to 35.62 (Depending on Working Experience)

Work Hours: 30 hours per week

Benefit: 2 weeks paid vacation

 

Job Duties:

- Oversee the work of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen personnel.

- Teach new cooking methods and demonstrate the use of new equipment to the kitchen team.

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including pastries, sauces, soups, salads, vegetables, meat, and poultry, as well as create decorative food displays for special occasions like banquets.

- Guide cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of meals.

- Develop new recipes.

- Responsible for menu planning and ordering food and kitchen supplies.

- Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods and manage the requisition of kitchen supplies.

- Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff.

 

Qualifications:

- Secondary school completion is required.

- Completion of a formal culinary program OR 2+ years of experience working in a commercial kitchen as a Sous Chef or in a similar role.

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be a strong team player is required.

- Having a working knowledge of English.
