Job Duties

  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms with suppliers to get the best value.
  • Research and identify potential suppliers for food ingredients, packaging materials, and other business needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure reliability and quality.
  • Assess supplier performance regularly based on criteria such as delivery time, quality of goods, and cost-efficiency.
  • Track inventory levels of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging supplies to ensure they meet production demands without overstocking.
  • Place orders to replenish stock before supplies run low using inventory management spreadsheets.
  • (FIFO) or First-Expire-First-Out (FEFO) principles.
  • Place orders for food products and packaging as per the requirements of the production department.
  • Organize timely deliveries of goods to the kitchen area.
  • Maintain records of all purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and delivery receipts for auditing and tracking purposes.
  • Verify the quality and quantity of received goods against purchase orders, ensuring that food items meet safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address any quality concerns, including damaged goods, incorrect deliveries, or substandard ingredients.
  • Ensure that all purchases comply with BC food safety regulations.
  • Work within the allocated budget for purchasing food items, ingredients, and packaging materials.
  • Look for ways to reduce costs while maintaining the quality and quantity required for production.
  • Regularly compare prices from multiple suppliers to ensure the company is getting the best deals.
  • Collaborate with the production department to forecast demand for ingredients and ensure a continuous supply to meet production schedules.
  • Work closely with the owners and accountants to manage and process payment schedules, vendor credits, and financial reports.
  • Regularly report purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance to management.
  • Keep an organized database of suppliers, products, prices, and delivery terms.
  • Assist with compliance audits related to purchasing activities, food safety, and inventory management.
  • Develop contingency plans for any disruptions in supply chains, such as delays, shortages, or
  • Resolve any issues related to late deliveries, incorrect items, or damaged products.

 


Employment requirements
Post-secondary education such as a university degree or college diploma in  college diploma in business administration, commerce or economics.is required.
1 year or more experience in supply chain or related field would be preferable
Excellent communication skills in English. Basic communication skills in Punjabi will be an asset to have, but not a requirement.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe and Photoshop

Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, manage and meet multiple deadlines

Interpersonal skills and comfort with meeting new people on a daily basis
Benefits
As per BC Employment standards act, 4% vacation pay of the gross salary will be paid each pay period with 10 days of unpaid vacation annually or the option to choose 10 days of paid vacation annually with no vacation pay on each pay period.
