Nature of position: Permanent, full-time (30 hours per week)

 

Wage: $38.50 per hour

 

Vacation: 10 days per annum

 

Language required:English (spoken and written)

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position: 

 

 Teach painting (including acrylic, watercolor, oil pastels, sketching, colored pencils, and craft courses) to children aged 5-12.
 Teach using a systematic plan of lessons, demonstrations, discussion groups, and independent and group projects.
 Develop curriculum and prepare teaching materials and outlines for courses.
 Prepare, administer, and mark projects, papers, and tests to evaluate students’ progress.
 Provide individualized tutorial or remedial instruction to students who require it.
 Supervise independent or group projects.
 Supervise teaching assistants.
 Serve on committees concerned with matters such as budgets, curriculum revision, and course requirements.

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience: 

 

 A bachelors degree, a college diploma, or demonstrated expertise in the field of visual art.
 At least 18 months of experience as a children’s art teacher.
 Proficient at creating PowerPoint presentations and designing teaching materials based on curriculum requirements.
 Excellent oral and written communication skills.
 Strong creative thinking skills and demonstrated use of creative teaching techniques.
 Outgoing, lively, and skilled at engaging children in a classroom atmosphere, with clear teaching logic and strong classroom management skills.
 Highly adaptable and skilled at handling unexpected situations.
 Passionate about art and aesthetic appreciation.
 Patience, compassion, and approachability are preferred.
