JOB TITLE: Mushroom Harvesting Labourer
START DATE: As soon as possible
JOB TYPE: Full time, Permanent positions available
WAGE: $17.40-19.40/hour (Depending on experience)
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 180
JOB DUTIES:
- Harvesting, picking, sorting, packing, and weighing mushrooms
- Decide which mushrooms to pick to encourage good quality harvest by selecting which mushrooms to harvest and which to leave to grow, to maximize size, quality and output of mushrooms
- Sort picked mushrooms by sizes and quality into boxes
- Cut mushroom manually on the portabella line
- Slice mushrooms on slice machine using SOP and ensure safety guards are followed as trained i.e. machine shut down, chains properly attached, steel covered
- Manual Handling of pre-pack blue trays on the end bench of conveyor
- Placing empty blue trays on the tub wash conveyor
- Placing filled mushroom (all sizes such as 8oz, 16oz, etc.) into boxes and placed on the conveyors
- Ensure all trays goes through OMORI – wrapping, stickering, and metal detector
- Wrap and label mushrooms
- Weighing of mushroom box on the weigh machine
- Weigh and package mushrooms in a manner that the product is safe and legal
- Assist in operating and maintaining various farm machinery and equipment
- Loading/unloading farm produce and supplies for transport
- Bringing stack of mushrooms of pre-pack blue trays pallets using electric pallet jacks
- Picking of wrapped mushroom boxes and placing on the cardboard
- Placing of cardboard and stacking on the wooden pallets
- Move empty cardboard boxes to the trashing machine outside area using hand pallet jack
- Moving the pallets to the warehouses
- Unloading farm supplies from trucks using various mobile equipments
- Operate mobile equipment, such as forklifts, skid steers, front-end loaders
- Cleaning and preparing mushroom beds, growing and working areas
- Ensure all fallen mushrooms are cleaned off mushroom beds
- Cleaning mushrooms beds properly to help promote good crop for the next flush of mushrooms
- Cleaning, washing off floors, machines, hoppers, bunkers, etc.
- Ensure fallen mushrooms on the ground are swept and cleaned
- Ensure fallen mushrooms on the rotating parts are cleaned using air-guns
- Ensure all trash are cleaned outside in the big bin
- Sanitizing picking tools and working area
- Stacking blue tubs
- Moving clean tubs and palletizing skid
- Checking for cleanliness of the tubs
- Wrapping skids of empty tubs
- Sanitizing picking tools, buckets, etc.
- Ensuring cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of work environment.

Skills and abilities:
- Ability to work a high height level, using ladders, lorries/man lifts to harvest mushrooms
- Ability to bed, crouch, stand, and kneel for long extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (20kg)
- Ability to work in various conditions, indoors, outdoors, cold, wet/damp, dust, distinct odours
- Ability to utilize fine motor coordination with hands and arms
- Ability to work long hours, with repetitive tasks
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
LANGUAGE: No formal language requirement.
EXPERERIENCE: No Education or experience required; successful candidates will be trained on job duties.
