JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking to employ a talented and experienced Head chef to lead our kitchen and oversee all culinary operations for our restaurant. The ideal candidate will have extensive kitchen experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

  • Prepare and cook food on a regular basis that meets the highest standards of the Passage to India, adhering to established food quality and plating specifications.
  • Experiment with new recipes and cooking techniques to enhance menu offerings
  • Direct and oversee food preparation and cooking processes.
  • Develop and manage kitchen budgets, including food costs and labor expenses.
  • Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and ensure the availability of ingredients while minimizing waste.
  • Supervise sous-chefs, specialty chefs, and cooks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Address any kitchen issues that arise, from equipment malfunctions to staffing shortages, swiftly and effectively.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance on cooking techniques and kitchen

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • At least 1-year related experience in the culinary industry is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in English

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent Full-time, Long-term.

 

WAGES: $20.00/Hour


HOURS OF WORK: 
40 hours per week

 

OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.

 

BENEFITS PACKAGE:

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer.
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.
