Role Description:
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Waterloo, ON. In this full-time role, you will work on the hardware design as well as the testing, deployment, and integration of intelligent collision avoidance and autonomous driving systems on mining equipment. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our systems are fully operational, reliable, and safe under real-world mining conditions.
This position requires hands-on experience with the electrical systems of various mining equipment, as well as a deep understanding of network, robotics, and AI technologies. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary teams to bring innovative solutions to market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems and components for the integration of intelligent collision avoidance and autonomous driving technologies into mining equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical, and systems engineers, to ensure the electrical components meet overall system requirements.
- System Testing & Validation: Develop and implement testing protocols for evaluating the performance and reliability of intelligent collision avoidance and autonomous driving systems in mining equipment.
- Electrical System Integration: Design and integrate electrical components, sensors, cameras, and LiDAR systems into heavy mining machinery to support autonomous operations.
- Field Testing & Troubleshooting: Supervise our technicians in field tests to ensure systems operate safely and effectively in harsh mining environments. Diagnose and resolve electrical issues and optimize system performance.
- System Deployment & Support: Lead the deployment of our systems at mining sites, ensuring proper and clean installation, calibration, and ongoing system maintenance support.
- Safety & Compliance: Develop and ensure all electrical systems meet industry standards and safety regulations, incorporating fail-safes and redundancy measures.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of testing procedures, results, system designs, and modifications. Provide regular reports to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with robotics and electrical systems in industrial or mining equipment is an asset.
- Proficiency in electrical design, system integration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with robotics, autonomous driving, AI, or collision avoidance systems is an asset.
- Familiarity with mining environments and the associated operational challenges is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical reporting.
