Position Description

Position: Carpenter Helper

Type of employment: Full-Time; Permanent

No of positions: 2

Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible.

Work Location: Unit 6 - 13140 88 Avenue Surrey BC V3W 3K3 and Various Locations in Lower Mainland, Greater Vancouver, Fraser Valley (BC)

 

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $23.00 per hour

Overtime and Vacation Pay

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist carpenters with their work and help them move equipment and perform other tasks as needed.
  • Load and unload wood and related materials, transporting them to designated work areas.
  • Assemble parts and subassemblies into a complete unit, following instructions.
  • Finish the finished products with polish or stain after sanding and smoothing wooden surfaces.
  • Assist in measuring and cutting wood, wood substitutes, light steel, and other materials.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for work ahead, ensuring a tidy and efficient workspace.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in proper working condition and stored properly.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Assist with the installation of wooden structures and fixtures.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools effectively and safely.
  • Handle and dispose of waste and debris from the project, maintaining clean work areas.
  • Assist in erecting and dismantling temporary structures, including scaffolding.
  • Coordinate with the team to complete projects on time.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as directed, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.

 

Job Requirements

  • No prior experience is required; we provide comprehensive training.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, equipment, and materials.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Comfortable working in different weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and implement new techniques and tools.
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
