Job Responsibilities

  • Cut, trim, wave, curl, and straighten hair as per customer instructions.
  • Recommend hairstyles based on clients' physical features and preferences.
  • Stay updated on current trends and styles to offer informed suggestions.
  • Assess hair and scalp conditions to determine suitable treatments.
  • Provide advice on hair and scalp care and recommend specialized products.
  • Apply bleach, tints, dyes, and color treatments as requested by clients.
  • Perform advanced coloring techniques like balayage and highlights.
  • Shampoo, rinse, and condition hair before cutting or styling.
  • Use appropriate products based on hair type and condition.
  • Carry out chemical treatments such as perming, relaxing, and straightening.
  • Listen to clients’ needs and ensure satisfaction with the final result.
  • Address any concerns and offer professional advice on hair maintenance.
  • Keep the workstation clean and sterilize tools after each use.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage stock to ensure product availability.
  • Build strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat visits.
  • Collaborate with salon staff to ensure a smooth client experience.

 

Job Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized hairstyling apprenticeship or barber program, or completion of a college program in hairstyling, combined with on-the-job training or 2-3 years of related work experience in hairstyling or barbering.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients.
  • Certification or licensure as required by the province or territory.
  • Knowledge of the latest hair trends, products, and techniques is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines consistently
