Responsibilities

  • Handle all payroll-related payments, including regular wages, cheques, benefits, commissions, and vacation pay.
  • Keep accurate records of employee attendance, leave, deductions, and overtime to ensure correct calculations for pay and benefits.
  • Ensure timely payment to employees, whether on a weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly basis.
  • Issue payroll cheques or direct deposits on scheduled pay dates.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for payroll records, employee documents, and other relevant paperwork.
  • Create reports at the end of each payroll period to summarize payroll expenses.
  • Address employee concerns or discrepancies related to payroll, such as payment errors, missing payments, or incorrect deductions.
  • Create, review, or update payroll procedures and processes as needed.
  • Communicate policy changes or updates related to pay and benefits.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll issues promptly to maintain employee satisfaction.
  • Provide data for financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting on recurring payroll.
  • Prepare T4 statements and other statements for payroll processes.
  • Keep payroll systems and software updated with the latest employee data, tax rates, and company policies.
  • Ensure data privacy and compliance with relevant data protection laws.
