Job Summary:

D JEAN ENTERPRISE LTD is seeking reliable and experienced Line-Haul Drivers to join our team. As a Line-Haul Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods, ensuring timely and safe delivery to designated locations. This role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. If you have a passion for driving and providing excellent service, we encourage you to apply.

Job Duties: 

1. Operate and Drive Trucks:
Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely over long distances.
Perform tasks such as tarping, loading, and unloading goods, ensuring cargo is secure and well-balanced to prevent damage during transit.
Transport and handle dangerous goods, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.

2. Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance:
Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, overseeing all aspects of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, ensuring that the truck is in good working condition and reporting any necessary repairs or maintenance needs.
Conduct brake adjustments and other routine maintenance tasks as needed to ensure vehicle safety.
Oversee the condition of the vehicle, ensuring that it meets all legal and safety standards.
Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed, working with mechanics and the dispatch team to ensure minimal downtime.

3. Route Planning and Adjustments:
Plan and adjust routes using computer equipment, GPS systems, or other navigation tools to accommodate changing road or weather conditions.
Optimize routes to minimize fuel consumption and reduce carbon emissions, contributing to the company’s sustainability goals.

4. Cargo and Documentation:
Record detailed cargo information, including weight, contents, and delivery schedules, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of hours of service, distances traveled, and fuel consumption to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
Ensure the safety and security of cargo, performing tasks like tarping and strapping to prevent load shifting or damage.

5. Customer Interaction and Professionalism:
Address customer complaints or concerns professionally and efficiently, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Deliver exceptional customer service while representing the company during interactions with clients and business partners.

6. Communication and Coordination:
Receive and relay information to central dispatch, providing real-time updates on delivery status, road conditions, and vehicle performance.
Communicate with customers and the dispatch team to ensure that delivery schedules are met and any issues are promptly addressed.

7. Mountain and Long-Distance Driving Expertise:
Demonstrate expertise in mountain driving, managing challenging terrains, varying weather conditions, and ensuring cargo and vehicle safety in difficult environments.
Safely operate vehicles during long-distance hauls, following best practices for fatigue management, rest breaks, and road safety.

Qualifications:
1. Completion of High School.
2. Willing to attend the company training and Enform (Energy Safety Canada) Certificate for Oil & Gas Transportation – Bulk Haul Operator is required.
3. Valid Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License is required; Clean driving record with no major violations..
4. Knowledge of local and national transportation regulations and laws.
5. Physically fit and able to load/unload cargo when necessary.
6. Strong communication skills and stable personality.
7. Mountain driving expertise is a strong asset.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to plan and adjust routes in real time.
