Job Summary:
Tansen Izakaya is seeking a highly organized and motivated Restaurant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, manage staff, and ensure a high level of customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience in restaurant management, a strong focus on financial analysis, and the ability to create and execute operational strategies to boost overall restaurant performance.

Job Duties: 

1. Drive Profitability:
Analyze, develop, and manage the restaurant’s budget to maximize profitability. Monitor costs for food, beverages, and supplies while identifying opportunities for savings without compromising quality.

2. Cost Control:
Implement cost control measures by adjusting menu prices based on ingredient costs, ensuring optimal food preparation methods, and managing inventory levels to reduce waste.

3. Operational Oversight:
Evaluate and oversee daily operations, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the restaurant’s goals. Make adjustments to workflows and service processes as needed to improve efficiency.

4. Lead a Winning Team:
Recruit, train, and supervise restaurant staff, including kitchen and front-of-house teams. Set work schedules, assign tasks, and provide ongoing support to ensure smooth operations. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching or disciplinary actions when necessary.

5. Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure all staff members follow health and safety regulations, including sanitation standards, and maintain a clean and safe working environment for both employees and customers.

6. Inventory and Supplier Relations:
Organize and maintain the restaurant’s inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing waste. Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing for food, beverages, and supplies.

7. Customer Service:
Handle customer complaints, inquiries, and concerns in a professional and timely manner. Lead by example to provide exceptional customer service and foster a welcoming atmosphere.

8. Promote and Grow the Business:
Work with the management team to develop and implement marketing strategies aimed at increasing customer engagement and boosting sales. Participate in promotional activities to enhance the restaurant’s visibility and reputation.

9. Financial Monitoring:
Monitor revenues and expenses, including labor costs, to ensure that the restaurant meets financial goals. Prepare financial reports to track performance and inform decision-making.

Qualifications:
1. Fluency in English is essential to communicate effectively with staff and customers.
2. College/CEGEP diploma or an equivalent level of experience in restaurant or hospitality management.
3. 1-2 years of restaurant management experience in a fast-paced, high-volume food service setting. Proven track record of successfully managing restaurant budgets, optimizing daily operations, and leading teams.
4. Computer & Technology Skills:
Familiarity with electronic cash registers
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Windows)
Knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems
5. Ability to work under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, especially during busy shifts
6. Physically demanding tasks such as standing for extended periods, walking, and managing inventory
7. You have excellent time-management skills and can multitask in a fast-paced environment.
