Just like the country, the food is also diverse. One of the most authentic and traditional cuisines of South India hails from Madurai.

Madurai, being the soul of Tamil Nadu (a South Indian state), has been the home to many preeminent and most famous dishes like Jigarthanda, Bun Parotta, Kola Urrundai (Mutton balls), Kari Dosai and many more. The uniqueness of the Madurai dishes lies in their traditional way of cooking and the numerous spices used in them. The burst of flavors will enable you to experience the food ecstasy to its fullest.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cook with a deep understanding of South Indian cuisine, particularly in preparing original traditional recipes without missing its cultural marks to the customers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Indian spices, cooking techniques, and equipment, and will be able to maintain high standards of food quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and Cook: Execute a variety of traditional complete South Indian dishes, focusing on dosas, biryanis, and curries, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Recipe Adherence: Follow established recipes and adjust ingredients as necessary to maintain flavor and presentation standards.
  • Spice Blending: Skillfully blend and use Indian spices to create authentic flavors.
  • Ingredient Preparation: Prepping and marinating ingredients as needed, including meats, vegetables, and spices.
  • Food Presentation: Plate dishes attractively and ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant’s presentation standards.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control, including ordering and stocking of ingredients and supplies.
  • Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and timely service.
  • Innovation: Contribute to menu development and suggest improvements or new dishes based on current trends and customer feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Cook, with a strong background in South Indian cuisine.
  • Skills: Proficiency in handling and cooking with a wide range of Indian spices and herbs. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Attention to detail
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and handle a fast-paced environment. Work under pressure
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of South Indian cooking techniques.
  • Education: A culinary diploma or relevant certification is an added advantage.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff.

Job Types: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred) – No education required

Experience:

  • Cooking: 3 years (1y – 2y) experience

Language:

  • English (preferred)
