Job description:
FR Distributor is a leading provider of newspaper delivery services in the Greater Calgary Area. Our main office is located at 36 Everstone Drive South West, Calgary, Alberta, T2Y 4M3.
We are looking for 1 Truck Driver (Overnight) to join our team immediately to transport newspapers across the Greater Calgary Area. This is a night shift position during the hours of 10pm to 5am. This is a permanent, full-time position with hours generally ranging from 30 to 37.5 hours/week. The exact hours per week will vary based on business needs.
We are offering a salary of $30.00/hour along with two weeks of vacation. The language of work for this position is English.
The main responsibilities for this position include:
- Operating and driving trucks through local and regional routes to transport newspapers to distribution facilities, retail outlets and other locations across the Greater Calgary Area
- Operating a vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations
- Performing pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of the vehicle systems and equipment, such as tires, brakes, lights, turning signals and horn
- Maintaining the vehicle in good working condition and reporting any issues or required maintenance
- Ensuring cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements
- Loading and unloading cargo from the vehicle, lifting and carrying weights of 30-40 lbs with approximately 100 bundles to be transported per night
- Recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
You must have the following qualifications:
- Willingness to obtain a Class 5 driver’s license (if not already held)
- Ability to work overnight and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to repeatedly lift and carry newspaper bundles with weights of 30-40lbs
- Prior experience in delivery or courier services is an asset but not required
- No recent moving or driving violations tickets
