Job Description:

-About the Company:

A licensed full-day childcare center providing care for children aged 30 months to 12 years.

-Position Overview: Early Childhood Educator for children aged 30 to 60 months.

Responsibilities:

-Develop and implement childcare programs that promote children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth.

-Lead activities like storytelling, teaching songs, and taking children on local outings, while encouraging creativity through art, music, play, and physical activities.

-Guide and assist children in developing good eating, dressing, and hygiene habits.

-Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral challenges and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.

-Have knowledge of the Daycare Services Act and relevant licensing regulations.

-Set clear behavior guidelines to create a positive environment.

-Plan and maintain a safe and healthy space that supports children's well-being.

-Build and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers who work with children.

-Assess children's abilities, interests, and needs, and discuss their progress or any concerns with parents and staff.

-Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers to ensure quality care and education.

-Order necessary supplies and equipment for the daycare.

-Help maintain daycare equipment and assist with housekeeping and meal preparation duties as needed.

-Attend staff meetings to discuss children's progress and address any issues.

 

Requirements:

-Education: Bachelor’s degree or college diploma.

-Experience: Experience an asset.

-Certification: Valid ECE license.

-First Aid: Valid First Aid certificate.

-Background Check: Satisfactory criminal record check.

-Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively.

 

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills:

Participate in staff meetings, sharing information about children's progress and any concerns; Work with early childhood educators to support programs that encourage children's physical, mental, emotional, and social development; Engage children in activities like storytelling, singing songs, and doing crafts; Prepare snacks and arrange the room or furniture for meals and nap times; Write and submit observations about the children to early childhood educators or supervisors.

 

Additional Skills:

Supervise the work of staff, trainees, and volunteers; Manage ordering of supplies and equipment; Take care of daycare equipment and help with cleaning and meal preparation; Assist early childhood educators or supervisors with keeping records; Join staff meetings to talk about children's progress and any issues; Oversee and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.

 

Salary:

Hourly Wage: $21.00 - $23.00 CAD, plus $6.00 CAD BC Early Childhood Educator wage enhancement.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with 8-hour workdays including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.

 

Benefits:

Vacation Pay: 4% of gross pay.
