Job Title – Cook

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (at least 37.5 hours per week)

Wages: $17.50/ Hour

Number of Positions: 01

Language Requirement: English

Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible

Minimum Education Required: Completion of secondary school is usually required.

Work Experience Required: At least 1 year of work experience is required in a similar role

Job Location: 119, 5120 47 St North East, Calgary, AB, T3J 4K3, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients.
  • Preparing sauces, stocks, and dressings.
  • Marinating meats and preparing other raw ingredients for cooking.
  • Grilling, frying, baking, roasting, and boiling food items.
  • Ensuring food is cooked to the correct temperature and consistency.
  • Following recipes and portion controls.
  • Assisting in the creation and planning of menus.
  • Suggesting new recipes and dishes.
  • Considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Tasting dishes to ensure they meet the establishment’s standards.
  • Adjusting seasoning and presentation as needed.
  • Ensuring food is served at the correct temperature and in a timely manner.
  • Keeping track of food supplies and ingredients.
  • Ordering new stock as necessary.
  • Managing storage to prevent waste and spoilage.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Properly storing food to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
  • Coordinating with other kitchen staff and servers.
  • Communicating effectively to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Training and supervising junior cooks and kitchen assistants.
  • Occasionally interacting with customers to receive feedback.
  • Customizing dishes according to customer requests.
  • Maintaining records of food costs and inventory.
  • Participating in budgeting and cost control measures.
  • Reporting any kitchen issues or maintenance needs to management.
