Position Description 

Position: Veterinarian

Type of employment: Full-Time; Permanent

Salary 

$60.00 per hour plus benefits

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in pet animals through comprehensive physical examinations and laboratory tests.
  • Utilize diagnostic imaging techniques such as X-rays, ultrasound, and MRI to assess animal health conditions.
  • Prescribe medicine, set bones, dress wounds, or perform surgery on sick or injured animals.
  • Perform routine, emergency, and post-mortem examinations to ensure comprehensive animal care.
  • Provide dental care, including teeth cleaning, extractions, and oral surgery.
  • Vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases.
  • Advise clients on feeding, housing, behavior, breeding, hygiene, and general care of animals.
  • Provide guidance on preventative care, nutrition, and overall wellness to ensure optimal animal health.
  • Address client concerns and questions with empathy and professionalism.
  • Perform reproductive health services, including spaying, neutering, and managing reproductive disorders.
  • Supervise veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and other support staff.
  • Ensure proper training and development of staff to maintain high standards of animal care and customer service.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the animal hospital complies with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene within the hospital to provide a safe environment for animals and staff.

 

Job Requirements 

  • Degree in veterinary medicine.
  • Valid veterinary license to practice in Canada or be eligible to obtain.
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to veterinary care.
  • Commitment to ongoing educational development and growth.
