JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for motivated and trustworthy Line Cook to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for proactively managing the upkeep and operations of the kitchen. We are especially looking for someone who has a great passion for culinary arts, the hospitality industry. Our ideal applicant is a proactive, motivated person who can anticipate problems early and take appropriate action. A dynamic team environment should be ideal for this Line Cook, who has great multitasking abilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:
- Preparing and cooking full meals including East Indian delicacies.
- Planning menus, choose portion sizes, calculate expenses and requirements for food, keep an eye on inventory, and order supplies.
- Hire and train kitchen staff, scheduling and supervising kitchen helpers
- Consistently plating, assembling, and garnishing all meal items.
- Keep an eye on all food leaving the kitchen to ensure quality and appealing presentation, and adjust recipes to meet particular needs like dietary restrictions and food allergies.
- Practical understanding of food safety and hygiene procedures, including washing and cleaning floors, crockery, utensils, and other kitchen equipment to maintain the required levels of cleanliness, health, safety, and sanitary conditions in the kitchen.
- Keep the kitchen area hygienic and secure while following the standards for quality and control and food safety.
- Managing the reception, storage, and meticulous preparation of all food items in alignment with the standards and protocols of KTK Masala Shop. Oversight of the entirety of kitchen operations is also part of the role.
- Ensuring optimal inventory levels of both prepared goods and essential supplies and equipment.
- Getting ready various food items for cooking methods like grilling, frying, sautéing, etc. This entails tasks such as portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and marinating, while maintaining unwavering accountability for the quality of the dishes served.
- Engaging with customers, staff, and management in a courteous and professionalmanner.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent, Full-time, Long-term.
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
WAGES: $18 per hour
OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.
BENEFITS PACKAGE:
- Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer.
- Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.

ANTICIPATED START DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: As soon as possible.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Secondary school completion is required.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Some cooking experience in the areas of Authentic East- Indian cuisine and products, is an asset, and willingness to learn company processes and techniques.
- On-the-job training will be provided.

- Capable of lifting/pushing heavy objects weighing over 40 lbs.
