Job description:
Skills
- Load securement (tarping, tie-downs, Cargo placement and restraints, etc.)
- Load securement as per National Safety Code Standard 10 or North American Cargo Securement Standard
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports or Electronics DVIRs
- Perform Preventative Maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, fuel consumption
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform brake adjustments
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
- Ensure 100% compliance with Safety regulations
- Professional communication with customers
- Handle freight and Freight documents
- Pickup and delivery of freight in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform all other duties as requested
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
- Load and unload goods (if required)
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes

Miscellaneous:
- You must be able to obtain appropriate Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate within 1 month of starting a job or before transportation of your first dangerous goods load. Employer will arrange and pay for this certificate.
- Employer will fully fund mandatory courses (i.e. Transportation of Dangerous Good -TDG) as required by employer. A prior approval from employer will be required before taking these courses
- Employer will reimburse Class-1 Drivers Training program costs up to a maximum CAD$2000. This training program must result in an employee receiving Class 1 License with Air Brakes endorsement issued by a competent authority. $2000 will be reimbursed after 1-year of continuous employment.
- Bonus will be paid on safe driving and mileage.
